The Gardens at Haceinda Okhra are all unique and cater to the type of yield they are producing.

 

Background

Our focus is on sustainability. We implement unique farming methods, including vertical growing systems, raised beds in a variety of sizes, as well as planting directly in the ground. Our farmers use a combination of mediums including coconut fiber, native nutrient rich soil, as well as compost and vermicomposting systems from organic restaurant partners.

The water comes from a spring fed well, where it is pumped into a water tower which allows us to gravity feed. The system is designed as a natural reclamation system where all runoff flows directly into the outdoor gardens, with any excess ending up back in the pond that feeds the well.

We also use recycled and reclaimed materials, such as old zinc roofs and left over scrap wood, to build our infrastructure.
